Haelth & Safety Policy

Policy Statement
At Peak Positive, we are committed to ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of all staff, clients, contractors, and visitors. We strive to maintain a safe and healthy environment across all our operations, whether on-site, in external training venues, or during virtual activities. This policy outlines our approach to health and safety in compliance with The Health and Safety at Work (General) (Guernsey) Ordinance, 1987 and other relevant UK legislation.

Scope
This policy applies to all Peak Positive employees, associates, clients, and any third parties involved in our activities, whether in person or online.

1. Health and Safety Responsibilities
● Directors: Overall responsibility for health and safety lies with the directors of Peak Positive, who will ensure that adequate resources are available to implement and maintain this policy.
● Employees and Contractors: Each employee, associate, and contractor is responsible for maintaining a safe work environment by following health and safety procedures, reporting hazards, and taking reasonable care of their own and others' health and safety.
● Clients and Visitors: Clients, visitors, and external partners are expected to adhere to our health and safety guidelines and report any incidents or hazards they encounter.

2. Risk Assessment and Management
Peak Positive will regularly assess risks associated with our work and implement appropriate control measures to minimise them. This includes:
● Conducting formal risk assessments for in-person events, training sessions, and any work environments utilised by our employees and contractors.
● Identifying potential hazards and evaluating the likelihood and impact of risks to staff, clients, and visitors.
● Implementing preventative measures to mitigate risks and regularly reviewing risk assessments to maintain a safe environment.

3. Health and Safety Procedures
To promote safety across all operations, Peak Positive will:
● Training and Awareness: Provide all employees and contractors with appropriate health and safety training, including safe use of equipment and first aid procedures. Health and safety information will be reviewed annually or more frequently if significant changes occur.
● Emergency Procedures: Establish clear emergency procedures for incidents, accidents, and near misses, including first aid provisions and evacuation protocols for training venues and any on-site facilities.
● Accident Reporting and Investigation: All incidents, accidents, and near misses must be reported to the director or the health and safety coordinator. These will be recorded, investigated, and analysed to prevent recurrence and improve safety measures.

4. Safety in Training Environments
● On-Site Safety: For events held at Peak Positive or rented facilities, we will ensure compliance with all safety regulations, including fire safety, accessibility, and first aid provisions.
● External Venue Safety: When delivering training at external venues, Peak Positive will coordinate with venue managers to ensure compliance with health and safety protocols and complete venue-specific risk assessments.
● Virtual Training: For virtual training sessions, we will ensure that facilitators and participants are aware of basic online safety practices, including ergonomic advice for safe computer use.

5. Equality, Accessibility, and Adjustments
In line with our commitment to inclusivity, Peak Positive will:
● Provide reasonable adjustments for clients and employees with disabilities or specific needs, ensuring they have full access to our services and resources.
● Make necessary adjustments to accommodate delegates with visual or auditory impairments, mobility challenges, or other individual requirements.
● Review adjustments regularly to ensure ongoing accessibility for all participants.

6. Health and Wellbeing Initiatives
We are committed to promoting a healthy work-life balance and mental well-being for our employees, contractors, and clients. This includes:
● Offering flexible working arrangements where possible.
● Providing resources and support related to mental health and well-being.
● Encouraging open communication about health and safety concerns without fear of reprisal.

7. COVID-19 and Infection Control
Peak Positive will comply with government and public health guidelines regarding COVID-19 and other infectious diseases. Measures may include:
● Conducting virtual sessions where feasible to reduce physical contact.
● Implementing social distancing, mask-wearing, and sanitation measures during in-person events.
● Ensuring adequate ventilation and cleaning in all physical spaces used by Peak Positive.

8. Monitoring and Review
Peak Positive will regularly monitor, review, and update this Health and Safety Policy to ensure its effectiveness and compliance with legal requirements. Reviews will take place annually or sooner if there are significant changes in operations, legislation, or best practices. This Health and Safety Policy has been approved by the directors of Peak Positive, who are committed to maintaining a safe and healthy working environment for all.
